Many Days Later

I spent the past few days catching up on sleep and hitting some sales. Every shoe store seemed to be having some kind of sale. I got new shoes for each of the kids for summer and a new pair for me. (I think my old ones were getting worn out because my feet were beginning to hurt by the afternoon.) I also managed to find some placemats to put on my table, a shelf for my bathroom, and some other miscellaneous stuff that I needed. I did all of that on Thursday, which I had taken off because I really didn't feel very well. It's amazing what a little shopping will do for your attitude... LOL

Also, I bought the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad". It's a book about this guy who had two 'dads'. One taught him to get a good education and find a good, safe job. The other taught him how to manage his finances and make money work for him as opposed to him working for the money. Paul and I have both read it (it's not really very big) and we are going to try to put into practice some of the things this book recommends. We still have some other things to purchase to help us get on our way, though. Plus, I told Paul that I agreed that it would be a great way to secure our financial future but I need to get some more education on some of the aspects before I am ready to sink a lot of money and time into something that I know nothing about. So, we embark on this new adventure.

Other than that, I spent my weekend doing the regular stuff: shopping for groceries, washing clothes, washing dishes, cleaning up the house, etc. I think that the two days I took off (Thursday and Friday) really helped me recuperate, or rejuvenate, or whatever because I really feel much better today!

Tuesday - Noonish

Today has been dragging. I don't know why. But it doesn't seem to be going fast enough. Everybody who's been in my office today has some gripe about something or somebody. I listen because I do not want to seem rude or uncaring. And I really do care about them. I am just not up to it. I just want to crawl into my nice cozy bed and take a nice nap. Is that so wrong???

Ah, alas, I cannot nap. They pay me to work. And naps are not included. So, I trudge on through the day waiting until I can collapse into my nice cozy bed and finally sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be brighter.

Friday Afternoon - A Week Later

It's been a pretty decent few days. On the 13th, I celebrated my 41st birthday. Our family went to dinner at Razz Ma Tazz Grill. It's a nice new restaurant in Minden. We had a nice dinner.

I had taken off the 13th (for my birthday), the 14th (the kids' teachers had their conference), the weekend (15th & 16th), and the 17th (MLK, Jr. Day Holiday). So, I had a nice LONG weekend to recuperate and relax. I mostly slept on my birthday because no one was home to wake me up.

On Sunday, Deanna had a birthday party to go to for one of her little friends. And Matthew was invited to go with his cousin to the World of Wheels Car Show in Shreveport and ended up spending the night with them. Then on Sunday Night, I was invited to go to the Funny Bone Comedy Club with my friend Marilyn and her daughters. We ate dinner at Smokey Joe's Cafe in Sam's Town Casino. They have good food. Then we went to the Funny Bone. The two comedians were really fun and funny. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Monday, Deanna and I hung around the house until Matthew came home around 1:00.

Then, this week has really seemed short since it was one day short. It hardly seems like it is Friday but I am SOOOOooooo glad it is. I have to shop for groceries this weekend and then wash clothes and clean up my kitchen. So, this weekend will be a busy one.

Gotta run for now!!!

Wednesday Morning

Yesterday, I did really good. I finally managed to get the beans in the crock pot for dinner. Came home and they were ready. All I needed to do was make some rice to go with them. I had almost run out of rice so I put on what I had left. Then I put the lid on and sat down to help with homework. Halfway through homework, Deanna comes through the kitchen from her room and announces,"Something's burning!" In my ignorance, I told her there wasn't anything burning. Just then, the smell got to where I was... Yes, there is something burning! So, I jumped up and ran into the kitchen. My rice (the last rice in the house) was sizzling away. I had forgotten to turn the fire down under it when I put the lid on. So, we ate bean "soup"... LOL We ate the beans with crackers. My kids LOVE beans. And really this is the first time I've burned anything on the stove in forever. So, it was traumatic. Not to mention smelly. We had the doors open for about an hour and a half to get the smell and smoke out.

This morning went much better than yesterday evening.

Tuesday Afternoon

Today has been okay so far. I went to Employee Health yesterday about my thumb going to sleep all the time. They sent me to Neurology to have a nerve conduction study done.

Don't know if anyone has had that done but let me tell you... It's ouchy! They put these little electrodes around your fingers and then use electric current to measure the rate of conduction. This helps them determine if you have a problem with nerve damage, carpal tunnel, or whatever. I have carpal tunnel syndrome.

From Neurology, I went to Physical Medicine and they did more tests and gave me a splint to wear on my hand and forearm at night time to let the carpal tunnel rest. They say that it should help it out.

Monday Morning

Well, I got very little done I had planned to do last night. Oh well, it will be here for me this afternoon. I did manage to get up on time and will have time to put some beans in the crock pot for dinner. A grand accomplishment for me lately.

Now, I have to get everyone else up and going. Kids have been really good about getting up without too much drama so it's not as bad as it used to be.

Gotta run for now.

Sunday Night

Well, we got more stuff put away and done. I am trying to work from the front to the back. The front is where everyone who comes over will be and the back is where our bedroom is. I've got the livingroom pretty close to done. I need to hang one more picture in there. I got all my dishes washed - FINALLY! At least the ones that were dirty BEFORE I started cooking dinner.

Our dryer plug has been smelling really bad. I think that there is either a short in the plug or it's the wrong plug thingy. Paul is going to try to figure our what is wrong and if he can't fix it, we'll end up calling the landlord. That usually takes a while because he has like 30+ properties and only one him.

We now embark on a new week. School for the kids, work for me and Paul. I look forward to going to work only because I have good friends to share my day with. I think the kids actually miss school on the weekends.

Well, I need to get out of here and get busy washing the dinner dishes. Then I need to get a shower and try to wash some clothes for me to wear this week.
